Summer Camp Information





Opportunity for grades 5-8 STEM (Science-Technology-Engineering-Math)

Y Teen Center: Build a Sun-Powered Car!

Catch the rays of spring sunshine and put them to work powering a model car!

Form a team (2-4 people) and join STEM guide Lynn Farrin at the Y's Teen Center to design, build and eventually race model cars using solar power.

Each Tuesday beginning April 26, the YMC's Teen Center will be TRANSFORMED into a hands-on workshop space where teams will have the use of tools, art supplies, and other materials to design and build their vehicles.

The Teen Center will provide the solar panels and motor--you provide the innovation!

This program is open to all area 5th -8th grade teams and there is no cost or pre-registration.  The program is open to all area 5th -8th grade teams and there is no cost or preregistration required. Form a team and come to as many drop in work sessions as you can. Sessions run from 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm Tuesdays, April 26 through June 7. Two cars from CLC will be eligible to race their cars at the Junior Solar Sprint statewide meet at Owls Head on Saturday, June 11.
